Toyota Vigo - Modified for Power - Complete Interior Detail

This is my best friends car and he's getting married on the 27th Dec. So, I thought of giving him a wedding present by detailing his car and he said yes!

He really love this car. Modified it as soon as it went out of the delivery bay. Power chips, larger turbo, uprated diesel pump, nozzle upgrade, front mount intercooler, blow valve, better suspension, bigger exhaust pipe...etc

Tested this car before and its quite fast

So, on with the show,

Day 1 - send it in sometime around 4pm

The car at arrival was quite dirty from dirt & mud. He likes to send the car for good wash and polish&wax job but I was surprised to see some MAJOR mistakes done by these pro shops. I'm not bashing but to me this is unacceptable. See the pics to know what I mean ya.

EXTERIOR BEFORE

Burn marks from a rotary buffer

Again another burn mark

Dirty wells

Wax/Polish Residue on all the exterior door handle

Wax residue on all 4 corners of the fender flares

Front mirror with wax/polish residue

All the emblems were like this - with residues

Rear windscreen - wax/polish residue - again

The snorkel was also showing same symptoms.

Truck bed was only dusty. No problem

ENGINE COMPARTMENT BEFORE

Little bit dusty and rubbers & stainless steel pipes can use some shine on them

residue

another one

and another one - I think you guys get the point. Its residue o rama throughout the car

INTERIOR
The interior was quite dirty. He smokes and also goes for crazy 4x4 adventures when he's in the mood.

The vinyls in the interior were slapped with very slick dressing similar to tire shine (its like someone put products similar to ASD on the dash and door panels)

Rocks in between the "window seal" (...not sure what the name of that thing)

FRONT HEADLIGHTS BEFORE

The plastic headlights were showing light oxidization.

Apologize for the blurry pictures.

So, on DAY 1, I just took pictures and took out all the loose stuff and bag it in zipbags.

My little watchdog. He's old. If not mistaken, 8years old. He's dirty in this picture. Went around playing with sand and stuff. Gave scrappy a wash later tonight.

It was already late so I stopped for the day. Felt something was not right

Day 3:

Wokeup early and started work around 9am. I had slight fever and a migrain. Not sure why though.. took some meds and went straight back to work

I planned to do some Paint Correction - M83 & M80 combo but my buddy called me up and told me he wanted to take the car earlier by 3 hours. So, no paint correction on this car. (dang)

Here the process on that day

  • Body re-wiped with Last Touch 1:1
  • Decal removal on rear tailgate and rear bumper (hairdryer and GooGone works great)
  • Paint touchup on burn marks and also few other areas (scratches)
  • Removal of Wax/Polish residue throughout the car
  • Paint sealed with 2 coats of M21 2.0 via ROB
  • Wheels were sealed with M21 2.0 via yellow foam app. pad
  • Exterior windows were re-wiped with Detailers - Glass Cleaner Concentrate then sealed with RainX 2 coats
  • Front headlights were polished with PlastX on Yellow App Foam Pad.
  • Tail pipe (stainless steel) and rear bumper (chrome) were polished with Meguiars All Metal Polish

Here are the pictures

Burn marks after touchup

Scratch after touchup - not perfect but less noticeable

Missed few spots. Re cleaned missed spots and dressed back.

All done. Pick it up and was thrilled with the outcome
I've booked his car for Paint Correction in Jan09.

  1. In East Malaysia, based on the type of roads travelled, how the car is used, and the kind of dusty rainy weather, such a kind of detailing is not practical and un-realistic. That Toyota is not going for a car show or competition. I believe its a daily driven car. After a week, that undercarriage is gonna look like shit again. Your interior work is great as the driver faces the interior while he's driving and since he has spent quite a bit of money on the engine bay, your engine bay detailing is also great. Good job.
